Spring Break

Great weekend

On Friday my good friend Carly came up to visit and stayed over night.  We went down to the mall and saw teh new WWII memorial.  Very cool.  She was impressed.

On Saturday, played poker at Zack Mellman's house.  I probably played tyhe best I've ever played.  I knocked off everyone to the left of me,  first Max Eckert, then Ian, them Keith, Jake Riley, the list goes on and on.  I got up from $5 to about $25 on some gutsy  all ins on two pairs.   But Jordon  kept on getting sweet hands.  At the end he had taken  $135 and left all of us ewondering why we even showed up.

So to continue, prom was fun, and the week after sleeping all day, playing gulf and sleeping some more was really good.  A lot of my relatives came in for graduation so it was definitly hectic.  Graduatin itslef was kinda a dissapointment.  It was way to long, and I felt detached from the experience.  After seeing the first 100 people go up it got really boring.  The speaker was good though.

That night I went with my best friend Phil (who I've known for most of my life) over to the eastern shore.  We left arounf 10:30 and picked up some movies and drove down route 50 and the Bay bridge.  His family owned a really nice beach house on the eastern shroe so we hung out, drank and chilled.  After I fell asleep real late, I heard this ringing and finally I got up.  I was in a half daze stumbling around, until I realized it was the ohone.  So I picked up the phone and slammed it down.  The next day I realized that it was Phil's girlfriend Emily trying to get in touch with us.  Man I felt like a asshole.  Anyway teat day we played 18 holes of golf at the local golf course.  It was really nice to celebrate both of our graduations (he graduated from Prep).  He's going to UMCP next year so you all need to take care of him.

Beach Week:  My concept of beach week began back in march with people asking me to join there houses. Each time I declined.  I didn't want to pay a whole rack of money, be boged down by some group, or half to go and saty a certain amount of time.  So Saturday I got up, pakced and drove out to ocean city.  I was exploring whether to try and stay with Tim, Jason, but they were way full.  Eventually me and Gordon went aroungd asking hotels and houses if tey had spaces to rent.  Eventually we found the King Charles between 13th and 14th streets.  We got a decent room and it served us well.

So a lot of Beach week I don't remember and a lot I am not going o share, btu in general I had a really laid back and fun time.  I played a lot of golf, some volleyball and football on the beach.  I drank my fair share, slept more then my fair share and sunburned way to much.  I got the most fucked up ticket in Dewey Beach, which still pisses me off, and I got stopped by biking police on the boardwalk.  But other then that I stayed out of trouble.  Overall a great time and a goof conclusion to my four years of high school.

Wow, its been a long time since I updated.  So much to talk about.  I guess I was so busy enjoying the last elements of High School.

Currently I am at work, a place where I have been every day and will be every day, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for the rest of summer.  I am in the internship program at the US National Arboretum, and I would say it is not as fun as volunteering last summer as part of my senior research project for the magnet.  I get paid almost $10 an hour, which is good, but I guess I wish I had the time to go do fun stuff like sleep.

Because there is so much to recap I will do it in pieces.  First I will discuss last weeks of school/prom.

School was school.  Not fun, but bearable, mostly because I got to say farewell to all those blair blazers that I have come to associate myself with over the past four years.  Finals sucked, but as I just found out I managed to get a 3.2 GPA last semester.  The spring sports awards were fun,  except for the lack of trophiage that I took home.  Lacrosse banquet was nice because I finally got to hear what coach Gibb thinks of me "this player works really hard."  Thanks Gibb, like I didn't know that.  So I spent much of my last weeks of school playing Golf which was great.  I started out shooting in the 110's for 18 which stinks,  but just last weekend I shot a career low 92.

Prom:  Was good.  At least thats what me and Pam agreed to tell anyone that asked.  I personally had a great time.  It was nice to reconnect with Pam and spend some time with her, and to see a lot of friends one last time.  Dinner was good, the limo was cool.  Prom itself was overrated, and afterprom would have been a whole lot better drunk.  I spent the night over at Gordon's watching American Beauty.  The next day we got breakfast at the Original house of pancakes (very good), and then had a George Forman Grill BBQ (very good).  To be continued . . .

Last Night I played my last high school lacrosse game.  It was bittersweet.  Memories of all four years poured through my mind.  This is the end of not just my lacrosse career, but also my Blair sports career.  I have to think back on all three great soccer, wrestling and lacrosse teams I played on while at Blair.  But more importantly I remember the friends and teammates.  I remember the first day of soccer preseason almost 4 years ago when I met Lino, Lincoln, and Ian.  Over the course of that year I became friends with Jacob, Andrew, and Marcus.  In Wrestling I met Scott.  I don't even think I can count how many pushups we did.  In lacrosse I met Jake A., Andrew Ginsburg,  John Selby, Noah, Chris O., and later on Kyle.

Sports has been a big part of my life. Some of my proudest moments were when we won the first lacrosse playoff game for Blair and the team cheered for the coaches as they came on the bus going home.  I remember when in soccer this past season we won overtime after overtime game, beating Springbrook in the regular season, and winning on penalty kicks against Watkins Mill in the playoffs.  I remember pulling out close victories my junior year on the wrestling mat and cheering on as my teammates stepped up.  Its been so much fun.

My body is beaten but my soul is not.  Sure I'm going to take some weeks off to recover and let the bruises subside, but I will be back.  Hopefully after some hard summer workouts I will play lax at Chapel Hill, and I look forward to the challenge of the college game.

Blair has been kind to me, and I'm going to miss wearing the Blair Blazer on my jersey.  But most of all I'm going to miss the people who sweated it out on those hot days, and cold winters.  Those people who are my teammates and most importantly my friends.
